CinemaElectric, Mywaves Expand Mobile Video Ad Business

Mobile video provider CinemaElectric has forged an agreement with Mywaves, a mobile video distributor, to expand ad-supported distribution of CinemaElectric’s video channels including Smashbrain (men’s lifestyle content), Portable Hollywood (latest Hollywood news and events), Phat TV (urban and hip-hop content), Latino.net (Spanish-language Latin entertainment) and Mobile Laugh Network (professional and user-generated comedy).
The deal brings CinemaElectric’s content to a broader online consumer group, and allows advertisers to connect with CinemaElectric’s mobile content. “This agreement significantly broadens our reach and capabilities in the mobile advertising space,” said Ken Willner, executive VP of marketing and business development at CinemaElectric. “We’re excited to be partnering with Mywaves to bring CinemaElectric programming to a new set of active viewers worldwide.”
CinemaElectric announced a partnership with Google last month, to use Google’s AdSense to post its content with related ads on YouTube.
Mywaves is a carrier-independent mobile video company that delivers Web videos to mobile devices worldwide. The service was launched in December 2006 and features 10,000 channels of video content ranging from professional sources like CNN to user-generated clips. Within its first six months, Mywaves signed up over one million users globally. In July, Alltel Wireless became the first carrier in North America to offer Mywaves.
